Pensacola International Airport (PNS)
If you are flying in for the retreat, the nearest airport is the Pensacola International Airport (PNS). The airport is 38 miles from the retreat venue. The address to the beach house is 1440 W. Beach Blvd., Gulf Shores, Alabama 36542. Please make sure you've been added to the Writing Away Refuge private Facebook group for retreat attendees so you can arrange to ride share together to the venue through Uber or Lyft. Uber or Lyft for an individual to the venue will cost around $75, so ride-sharing with fellow attendees will be the most cost-effective option.

If you choose to attend the Writing Away Refuge retreat, but not lodge with us, there are hotels in the Gulf Shores, AL area with affordable rates (ex: Holiday Inn Express, Hilton Garden Inn, Best Western etc.), and the average rate for these hotels are around $100-150 per night plus taxes. Do keep in mind that you will need transportation to the beach house each day as well, but Uber is readily available and some hotels offer van service.)
Alternate travel options from PNS airport to retreat venue
If you prefer not to travel by Uber or Lyft, a taxi ride from the airport to the retreat house will take around 58 minutes and will cost around $110-$140. Arranging to share a taxi with a fellow attendee is another good option.
Departure day
We will help you arrange an Uber to the airport on departure day and ride-share with others to make your travel as inexpensive as possible.
